Cait gives him a startled then an amused look. Yes, I know the ones you mean. Good movies. He does always seem to get in strange situations doesn't he? I just hope we don't have any giant boulders chasing us out of the Palace.
She looks at him and is about to answer when her stomach growls. She starts laughing. I think I better or the beast might get out.
She sits down next to Takeda on the stairs and takes out a ration bar from her belt. She takes a bite and opens her canteen to take a drink of water.
The woolamanders have been watching them closely but they look blankly at Takeda when he asks "You wouldn't happen to understand Basic at all, would you?"
I don't think they do Takeda. They don't have that level of intelligence. Cait says as she takes another bite of her bar. They only understand me when I use the Force to communicate my meaning to them. Not like when I'm talking to you. It is more the communication of feeling and intent.

"I think it would be a good idea if I wait to get back to the temple before I even attempt something like that... certainly not with these guys... They seemed very wary of us when we got here, but while they are really interested, I think they have become accustomed to us, they look to be relaxing a little."
Takeda stows the rest of his food, then leans back and looks up to the sky, "I can not work it out in my head, I am not finding an obvious pattern to the carvings." He smiles over at her, "Your people are a lot like mine apparently, very very good at hiding their secrets, even from themselves. "
He goes back to looking at the sky, seeing Yavin Prime has moved more in the sky, he studies the swirls on the surface. Something up there grabs his attention, and he digs in his pack for a pair of binoculars. Turning them skyward, he searches for a while and then puts them away with a "hmmm"
"Pardon me a moment." He stands and walks a little ways away and pulls out his datapad and com. Gets Dweezel on the line.
"Dweezel, please get on the long-range and get a com to Njaa, tell him Hei's nephew asks for the eight codex... this is important Dweezel make sure to tell him to send the scan of the original, not the standard one... oh and the translation charts. Thank you Dweezel... yes, yes will be back soon, well see if the lifts are free, ummm, see if one of the guys will fit the panels for 750 credits.. try to get him to take 650 though. Yes, beep me when he sends them, I will more than likely have you transfer them to my datapad directly. Oh and check in the sector directory and see if anyone local is selling any magno-grav drag nets, I am betting your going to find a bunch. No, just check, I'll look over the specs when I get back."
He walks back over, and takes a seat. Sorry about that.

I would rather not try that at all. Dodging giant boulders is NOT my idea of fun. Cait says in an amused tone of voice as she eats her ration bar.
I think that is part of it. She says as she looks down at the statue in her lap. And finding this is also part of it. This is important to them that much I have felt from them. Why as of yet I haven't been able to discover. What happened earlier I'm sure has something to do with them relaxing around us. They know we mean them no harm.
Cait considers that. No, me either. We don't know enough about this culture to even begin to guess. She puts up her water and brushes off her hands when she finishes her ration bar. Cait smiles. Yes, we do seem to have that in common don't we?
She looks at the statue in her hand turning it over trying to read the runes carved into the bottom and doesn't notice his contemplation of the sky.
When he says "Pardon me a moment."
She nods absentmindedly. Of course. She gets out her crystal and holds it over the runes. She hums softly as she does the runes sharpen making them easier to read.
She is so busy trying to translate the runes she doesn't hear Takeda's conversation with Dweezel. She looks up startled when he speaks to her directly.
That's alright. I was trying to see if I could translate this. If I'm reading this right it says The protector of the Woolamander. Not very helpful or enlightening.

He takes a seat beside her, "Other than for these little guys, I am not familiar with the term. If it means something in Sidhe, I do not know it... well yet, That is why I was talking to Dweezel, I asked him to get in contact wit my uncle's successor. When he gets the message he should be sending me a copy of one of the old records, in it is a copy of a very old document, of course it is not in the public works. So it is not something I have ready access to. My apologies, most of this is beyond me by a great deal."

I don't know of any other reference other than these guys. Woolamanders are not native to Danaan so they aren't mentioned in the most ancient records. There isn't a word for them in ancient Sidhe. It is more of a description of them that I'm translating to mean Woolamander. If that makes sense?
Oh? That might help. No need to apologize this more of a scholar's field than that of a healer or a warrior. The only reason I know any of this is because my parents insisted that we learned the ancient language. They thought it might be useful.

He thinks on this. "Hmmm, that would to me imply that these little guys need protection. But from what, if the statue was to ensure their survival or memory, then it did its job long ago. They are still apparently a vibrant species, well prolific at least."
He looks around at the assembled masses. "Hmmmm, Much of what you have done has been musical or singing... these things singe in the jungle and call to each other all day and night. Could that be it? Could the "protector" be of a song?"

Yes, that makes sense. Good question. Yes, they are. More so around the Palace. It seems to be a place of shelter for them and they usually protect it against intruders. Most people can't even get close to the Palace without being pelted with fruit.
Yes, ancient Sidhe has always had an element of singing or music to it. It is said that was in imitation of the music or harmony of the elements of creation. Hmmm...an interesting idea.
She looks startled at his last statement. Of a song? Of a song. Hmmm...somehow that makes sense. All things have a voice and adds to the harmony of creation. She murmurs as if repeating something she had learned.

He stands up, and walks over to the closest wall with carvings. Then cleaning off the pictures, he leans down and grabs the attention of one of the closest Woolamander. He points to one of the images, and mimics the pose, which of course looks ridiculous, and then makes a very bad imitation of one of there basic calls while pointing to it.
Of course the Woolamander sits there looking at him like he is an idiot, but Takeda goes through the process several times, and then points to the next image and makes a different call. Going through this process several more times, he then strings a sequence together, and tries to see if the Woolamander corrects his pathetic guesses as to the sounds and their sequence...

Cait watches Takeda curious what he is going to do. She tries not to laugh when he tries to imitate the poses represented by the carvings and does a very poor imitation of one of their calls. She sees the woolamander is interested but is confused at what Takeda is doing.
Cait watches him and she finally catches on to what he is trying to do. She gets up when Takeda strings a sequence together walks over to him and the Woolamander. She is interested in the Woolamander's reaction. She watches them closely.
The Woolamander looks confused at Takeda at first. But leans forward when Takeda accidentally makes both the right pose and call together though not in the right key. It responds giving the call and pose the right way.

Takeda nods and tries to do it, of course not being a woolamander nor even mammalian it is impossible to get the tone right. He tries to project happy and energetic feelings towards the woolamander, as he continues hoping others join in, when a couple finally do, he reaches in a pouch and fishes out a carb-bar and breaks off tiny pieces and places them down for them before turning to Cait.
"Maybe you could explain it to some of them a little better, I am getting exhausted jumping around like these guys...
Oh, and if you do not mention this part, I will not say a thing about Great One... Deal?"

Cait watches him and the Woolamanders beginning to communicate. She smiles when he finally stops. The Woolamanders take the pieces of the carb-bar and eat them all the while making excited calls.
I could try. I can see that you are not built for this type of activity.
Cait laughs. Deal. Oh, light of footed one.
She then turns to the Woolamanders and does the same kind of pose and call that Takeda was trying to do. She not only does the pose and call correctly but when she does it she makes it look like a dance and song.
Now the Woolamanders are very excited and more come over to join in. They are chattering excitedly.
They do the call and pose back to her.
She tries another one of the calls and poses.

Takeda sits back and watches as she goes through the process of learning the song and the apparently accompanying dance.
He takes a moment and checks his datapad, sure enough Dweezel got through and all the information he requested is there. He taps out a new note with some additional instructions and some clarifications.
Opening himself up to the force he "watches" the movements and song and how it effects the flow. Silently taping on his datapad he records his observations for clarity. The last few days have been so far beyond anything he has truly experienced before, and from Cait's own admission this was new to her as well, possibly a written record would be valuable to later understanding.
His fingers moving over the keys as he follows the threads of the force, he feels something lurch in the force. A moment later there is a small tremor, the woolamander unlike all of the other animals do not freak out, they apparently do not even notice it.
Takeda's eyes go wide as he sees the "face" of it within the force and watches it move, then dissapate. Wholly unprepared for this he looses his cool and shocks himself out of his trance.
"Cait... Cait... Cait! What was that?!?"

She goes through several of the poses and calls stringing them together in a long sequence. She unconsciously taps into the Force as she does it. She feels a shift in the Force as she "dances" and "sings" the poses and calls. She begins to feel a presence in the Force it sets off a tremor through the Force.
She had only felt something like this once before but only on Danaan. A forest spirit was being reborn. She "sees" a face appear then disappear.
She blinks and stops when Takeda loses his cool and says "Cait... Cait... Cait! What was that?!?"
Calm down Takeda, its okay. I think I now understand what is going on. Tell me what did you see? I want to see if we experienced the same thing.

Tookie walks in to the area after exploring the outlaying areas of the as Takeda jumps from the ground temor, he drops a different piece of fruit. He hasn't seen what's gone on and is alert after the tremor, he looks at Takeda and Cait with shock. "Ata ata, whatsa wasin dat?"

Seeing she is not panicked, he sits back down and wipes his eyes and head with both hands, recovering himself, taking a few deep breaths he calms, but his body still aches with it.
"I was trying to "watch" with the force, I figured it would at least be helpful to my understanding of it, even if it did not help with this dilemma.
As you progressed through that last sequence, the flow rapidly built, it is like it is breathing, in and out of the jungle it was flowing through you and the statue to the Woolamanders. Then it... it exhaled... big..."
He gets out his canteen and takes a sip of water, he nods to Tookie, then continues. "I do not quite know how to describe what happened next, it was like something flowed out of the jungle, the woolamanders, the statue, and went somewhere through you" He looks over at her, and then to Tookie "Through Master Cait"
He closes his eyes as he relates some more It kind of seemed to hunt around almost like an animal, then the whole pulse of it went down, right over there. He points to an area right by the pedestal.
"Then it came back, the same time as the tremor, however this time it had a shape and form, sort of. I "saw" eyes, and it had a shape like us, but it was trees, and vines, and woolamander, and... Well the jungle, all of it, but separate from it. Then it "looked" at me, and my bones ached.
He pauses to rub his shins and stretch. "they still ache. I do not think it meant anything, it was not hostile, it was not... anything."
He looks back to them, "Are you both all right?"
