One day, out of the blue, I decided that I was too busy to Role-play on WoSW.
I posted to the Grey Jedi forum that there was a party on Kuat to celebrate the Grey helping them to win their freedom from the Empire.
Then, I blanked my blog down to nothing, except the following:
Tuskers has gone missing...
Disappeared while on planet Kuat celebrating their Independance
Amnesia...
------------------------------------------
Meanwhile, I had created the thread for the planet Kuat, and had been posting about their newly found independence from the Empire, with the assistance of the Grey Jedi. In that thread, I posted periodically, not replying to anyone while I was working this story. It was fun, and amazing to see the reactions from the Grey as they searched and played around my postings. These are some of the posts that I made….
------------------------------------------
There is a lot of partying in the streets, and lots of clubs open... A drink is thrust into Tuskers hand as he walks along Tuskers wakes up in an alley, and finds a restroom. He looks at himself in a mirror. Not seeing anything he recognizes. A man dressed for a party, with a lightsaber on his hip. Must be some kind of force user... He wanders out of town, away from the parties.
--------------------------------------------
Tuskers awakens again... As he starts to wake, he hears a female voice. "Shh. Don't make a sound. You'll wake the others. You are safe."
"Aeron?"
"No. I'm a police officer. I'm watching over all you people that have been partying too hard. Come out of the room as soon as you can, and be quiet."
He takes a minute to look around the room. There are many cots setup, about half have people sleeping on them. He remembers that sometime during the night, someone had told him of somewhere to sleep, a shelter.
Tuskers exits the room, and finds the friendly officer. "There is coffee over there, and restrooms that way. I need to see your ID card before you leave. It's just a technicality."
"ID? Oh, sure..." Tuskers routes through his pockets for a minute, then realizes that he's got nothing.
"Well, if you've been robbed, there is a police station a few blocks down, you've got to go file a report."
Tuskers thanks the officer, and freshens up. He heads in the direction indicated, and is amazed to see people still partying well into the next day.
Upon arriving at the police station, he's amazed to see a very long line of people waiting.
Someone says to him, "The pickpockets are very rich this morning, and we are all a little poorer."
----------------------------------
Tuskers waits for hours in the line, until he finally gets a chance to report his own losses.
The officer sitting behind the desk asks, "Name?"
"Um, I don't know."
"Quit wasting my time. What's your name? Where are you from?"
"I'm not sure. I woke in an alley."
"Well, sir... I cannot help you to find your memory. Only lost ID cards and any other personal effects. Go back to your farm until you remember something."
"Farm? Am I a farmer?"
"Only two types of people in this area. Farmers, who are tan like you, and officials, who are not so tan. Go tend your fields, and you'll be fine."
Tuskers wanders out of the police station, wondering how he's going to find his farm. He remembers looking at some farm recently, and tries to remember how he got there.
After asking around, Tuskers finds a transport that will likely take him to the local farms.
-------------------------------------
*Tuskers arrives at the local stop for some of the bigger farms. He asks if his face is familiar, but no one recognizes him. (This is because Tuskers had not been on a public transport when visiting previously.)
He asks if there is any way to find out where he might of lived or worked, and is referred to go over to one of the bigger farms in the area, and ask about work.
"I don't think you understand." But Tuskers is sent on his way.
Having to walk to the large farm is time consuming, and takes much of the rest of the morning. Tuskers is quite hungry by now. Some farm hands offer him some small bits to eat and drink, but are wary of a man still dressed from yesterdays party.
Arriving at the main office for the farm, no one knows Tuskers. They try contacting a few other local farms, but none of the foremen recognize him.
One offers him a job, and seeing no other option he accepts. He begins the long walk to another farm.
-------------------------------
Arriving at the new farm, Tuskers finds the foreman... "Well, what's your name?"
"Um, I don't remember."
"Well, I can't just call you nothing. You need a name... Think of something, quick, I'm not a patient man."
"I remember the beach, and a Lion... a big party..."
"Yes, there was a big party yesterday, but there is no beach anywhere near Kuat City. What's a lion? Well, we'll have to call you that for now. Mister Lion, what do you know on the farm?"
"I'm not sure... I'm having trouble remembering farm life."
The Foreman takes Tuskers hands and looks at them. You have never done field work, why are you here? Do you operate machinery? You probably should have applied for a job up on the construction platform, Lion man... I'll see what I have for you, but first, you need to change. I'll go rummage around for something."
The Foreman comes back with a basic jumpsuit and hat, which Tuskers changes into. "Sorry, all I have with short notice. But it's all you'll need for now. Now, I'll give you the option. Three months here, or go ahead and leave and try to get a job up on the platforms building ships. You cannot quit after three days. I require you to sign on for three months, no excuses."
"But... I don't even know who I am. What if I start remembering? What if I have a wife that's waiting for me?"
"Three months... Or leave... you've taken up more than enough of my time, Lion man..."
Tuskers turns, and starts the long walk back to the public transport system. "Frack!"
------------------------------------
When Tuskers arrives back at the city, he starts inquiring about getting work on a construction platform.
He notices there are still pockets of partying happening, but he is no longer interested in pursuing fun, but in trying to either find out who he is, or find a new job for himself. He does manage to find some free food to hold him over for a while.
Wandering though the city, he finally finds an office building that is hiring for construction jobs.
"Are you hiring?"
"Well, what do you do?"
"Um, I've lost my memory... So I don't really remember anything. But the farmers said that you'd probably hire me anyhow."
"We'll have to run some aptitude tests to discover your skills. The costs will be deducted from your first pay.
"Hmmm... that sounds backwards, because even if I told you I had skills you'd have to test them. Do I get a room and food on the platform?"
"Look, smart guy, I'm in need of skilled labor, so let's get you started on those tests. What did you say your name was again?"
"I don't... Well, the farm foreman called me Lion man... Kind of a joke, because he didn't even know what a lion was, I think."
"Lion man? That's terrible. Well, let's apply you for an identity card, then we can get your tests started and fly you up to the platforms. Even if you can only haul trash, we can take care of you."
Tuskers goes into the next room, carrying the outfit that he was wearing yesterday, and decked out in coveralls with a hat.
After an hour or two, he is put on a shuttle up to the construction platforms. While in the shuttle, he can't help but notice that he's very familiar with all the controls. Something in his head clicks, and he thinks maybe he knows how to fly.
------------------------------------
*Tuskers arrives on the Kuat Drive Yards. Upon entering, he is asked to provide identification. "I've been telling everyone for three days now, I have lost my ID."
"What's that hanging around your neck, buddy?" The guard grabs the ID hanging around Tuskers neck. "Lion man... Is this some kind of joke?" The guard grabs Tuskers, and shoves him towards security.
Once in the security section, Tuskers is frisked, and his lightsaber found. "So, you are some kind of Sith trying to sneak aboard and cause havoc? Not on my watch."
Tuskers is thrown in a cell, and they run a DNA test on him. "So, trying to apply for a job? Why would a TIE-Pilot need a job building starships?"
"I'm a TIE pilot? What? Who am I? What's my name?" The guard gives him a dirty look. "We don't like the Empire prying into our affairs. You can rot in that cell for a while. But if you really want to pretend to not know who you are, then I'll send in a medic droid."
------------------------------------
An older style medical droid enters the holding cell that contains Tuskers. It does some scans, and determines that a drug was used upon Tuskers that has made him lose his memory. However, it isn't able to give more of an analysis, and the guards are unwilling to do anything more. Tuskers is left to rot in a cell for the time being.
"But I don't know anything about the Empire. I have not been in a TIE fighter for years. Your information is out of date." Tuskers realizes that he's had a few memories return.
"Frack... I need more stimulus than this to bring back my memory. Locked in a jail cell. I wish G'man were here." Then he thinks to himself, who the heck is G'man?
------------------------------------
(This was my updated blog at the end of this Friday, to allow me to step away for the weekend.)
Tuskers awakens, not knowing where he is. Rising from the bed, he looks at himself. He slept in his clothing, but the room is completely unfamiliar. His lightsaber is on the table next to the bed.
Reaching out with the Force, he can feel other people nearby, but none that seem familiar. Looking around the room some more, he would judge that he's at a hotel somewhere.
"Bad decor, crappy bed, lack of any personal touches, yeah, a hotel." He mutters to himself as he picks up his weapon, and makes his way into the refresher. Locking the door, he tries to decide if he can risk a shower, or if he's in danger? Noticing a fresh set of clothing hanging here, he decides to take the chance, since his Force powers don't seem to indicate danger.
Several minutes later, Tuskers emerges from the refresher, and looks around the room more carefully. There doesn't seem to be anything of his in the room except his clothing, so he heads out the door into the hallway. Noting the number next to the room, he picks a direction, and starts walking. "I wonder what planet I'm going to find myself on today?"
When he finally reaches a window, he's looking out over a very colorful nebula framed by a moon in the foreground. "Typhon... I'm at the captured pirate base above Epslion III. That is a very long way from Kuat."
He reaches into his pockets, but doesn't find anything there. "That's right, I gave up those gems, after..."
He spots someone. "YOU THERE! Young lady, which way to the control center?"
The young woman walks up. "You've been here for a long time to be getting lost." She smiles slightly, indicating that she's teasing.
Tuskers looks confused. "Do I know you? I've been having some memory problems. Probably why I decided to stay here, it's safe."
The young woman puts a hand on his shoulder, and turns him down another corridor. "I'm Duma. I know who you are, I'm your assistant. Aeron asked me to watch over you until she returns. You seem to blank out every couple of days, and usually only remember back to when you were on Kuat. You'll be okay, just relax. Do you remember seeing your niece recently?"
Tuskers thinks for a moment, "Kira, yes. She helped me. But afterwards..."
Duma turns them into a conference room, and they sit down, she speaks into a comm unit, telling someone to bring some refreshments. "Tuskers, your mind was effected by a drug. At least that is what you told me. I don't really understand what that means, but if you remember Kira, then you remember you said that you'd understand the explanation."
Tuskers gives a crooked smile, "Duma, that is exactly what I needed to hear. Did I leave myself any other messages?"
Duma frowns, "No, but Aeron said that if you try to leave this station without her, that the bounty on your head would be so high, that you wouldn't survive a single night."
A familiar red protocol droid enters with a tray of refreshments. "Ah, Master Tuskers, you seem well today. Master Aeron and I spoke last night, she is concerned about you."
Tuskers pours himself and Duma a cup of coffee. "Thanks Red. If you speak to her again, let her know that I'm looking forward to seeing her." Turning his attention back to Duma. "I've probably asked before, but how's the moon doing? Last time I was here, there were major tremors."
She gives a knowing smile. "You really do have a one track mind. Do you remember sending the Star Destroyers back to your planet?" He shakes his head in response. "We're out here on our own now. Except for Meli, and a few freighters, this place is defended mainly by star-fighters."
Tuskers rises quickly. "Meli is here?" He reaches out through the Force, and can feel her, but not in the station. "What is she doing?"
Duma shrugs. "She patrols as much as she can. Brave ship, trying to protect you. She's deployed sensor bouys for us, so we can see much further than before."
Tuskers reaches out through the Force, speaking to Meli. She sounds happy and he promises himself some time with his ship soon.
Duma shows Tuskers to a gym, where he works out his body, and then relaxes in a trance, feeling the Force, and excercising his control of his powers. Tuskers feels relaxed, and begins practicing some fighting stances. After a couple hours, Duma returns. "Tuskers, you have not checked in with the Grey in a few days, you asked me to remind you. Do you want to call the Kage today?"
Tuskers frowns at the young lady. "Duma, I... I'm at a loss. I cannot assist like this, so I'm better off waiting until..."
Duma gestures to the door. "Meli will be docking in a while. I'll guide you to the landing bay. Also, I'll have some food brought to you there. I know you'll want to sleep on your ship tonight. But you have to promise not to leave the station. You can write yourself a note, and that way you won't have any problems if you wake up blanked out again."
Tuskers looks her over quietly for a few minutes. "You've really thought this out, haven't you?"
Duma smiles, "No, silly. We've been through this about six times now."
And so, Tuskers spends the evening meditating on his Sekotan Skiff. He tries to radio Aeron, but cannot locate her, meaning she's probably in hyperspace at the time. He starts to radio some of the other Grey like Kage Feonix, but does not know what the current events are, since he's been away for a while now. He doesn't want to waste her time. Just before he drifts off to sleep, he things to himself: 'Six times, how long have I been out of circulation? How long is this going to continue?'
What is next for this Ace pilot, and Master Grey? Only the currents of the Force know.
