"I do not know what it is, I can only describe it as a pressure or weight... It is like if you pass a warrior that is in a bad mood, you may not see his face, nor have any indication they are upset, it is... palatable... This of course is not like that, just though his outward mood seems light as yours and Master Fett's are, his "weight" is somehow different. I lack sufficient words to explain it" He remains floating but opens his eyes to let her know he is paying attention and not dozing... a reflex from long years of training, the short staffs carried by instructors frequently were used to ensure pupils were not resting their eyes when they should be in contemplation of a principal... a favorite means was a smart crack across the shoulder-blades.

Cait nods. Yes, exactly. You are sensing or feeling what they are feeling. You are connecting to them through the Force.
She gives Takeda a measuring look then says.
You are probably sensing his concern for his wife and his family. He knows that the assassin was first after his wife. And now it looks like the assassin has also targeted Nick himself. Nick is very protective of his family. The situation is frustrating him because can't protect them as long as he is confined to the Infirmary. He is pushing himself to get better because he wants to find this person and stop them. But he can't do that until he is well. That is why he keeps leaving the infirmary. But I know and he knows if he pushes it too fast he will only hinder his healing. Describing it as having weight is a good metaphor for it.

He nods and looks over to Nick, but speaks softly to Cait. "Ah, now I understand better the reason you wished me to watch his back and keep him out of trouble. From what you told me before he had been attacked, but I did not know the rest of the circumstances. I though the reason he "weighed" so strongly in presence was just from his recent experience. Narrowly escaping a bomb on your ship is enough to put anyone on guard." With a change of breath he allows his lower body to drift down returning to a more vertical position, but keeps his arms out-stretched and stays relaxed. "It will take quite a while I think for me to learn how to properly interpret these senses. I had never realized or thought that there was more to it than simple awareness, nor that it was anything special other than years of training." He ponders this for another moment, then his features take on a slightly sad cast. "It is too bad that TaiHei passed just over a year ago. He was my instructor, and an uncle." As he speaks a smile forms "He would likely been amused to know the correlation, though it is doubtful he would ever publicly admit it."
With a flick of his tail he changes his buoyancy and disappears below the surface for a moment, then rises again. His eyes open the entire time, she can notice the membranes that cover his eyes open after he rises.

Cait gives Takeda a grateful look. Yes, even though we are cousins we were friends first. We didn't know we were related until a few years ago. She thinks moment about what Takeda says about the reason he thought Nick felt weighed then nods. That too may be part of it. There maybe one other thing as well but that is for him to say what it is. Though I'm sure he is concerned about it even if he hasn't said anything at least to me about it.
She watches Takeda drift into a more vertical position and smiles at his next comment.
Perhaps you can never tell with these things. It may take awhile or it may suddenly become clear like someone turning on a light in a dark room. Though like with most things it usually takes practice. You have been using it already just not at a conscious level. She smiles again. In some ways that is all it is an awareness of what is around you and tapping into it at will. Your training may have honed it to a certain degree. You said you were trained as a warrior, yes? Being in danger can heighten that awareness because in some ways it is part of our instinct for survival. If that makes any sense.
Cait sensing his sadness gives him a sympathetic look. You were close? I'm sorry you must miss him. On seeing his smile, smiles back. Would he? He must have been a wonderful person. I would have liked to meet him.
She watches with interest as he dives under with his eyes open. She notices the clear membrane opening when he come back up. She then says when he resurfaces. That must come in handy when you swim under water to keep the water out of your eyes and see where you are going.

*sac enter the fitness center and changes into some work out clothes. Once changed he exits the locker room making his way to the work out area. He starts with some dynamic stretches then starts working on his muscles from the waist down. He senses a familiar presence and one he doesn't know. He decides to leave them alone and continue his work out.*

He smiles at her mention of his "extra eyelids" "They do come in handy, though it takes some getting used to, while they protect the eyes from dust and wet, they are not like clear goggles." His smile calms as he continues. "In the Clans, males usually start their formal training about age 8, it begins with basic physical drills and exercise, reading and studying the classics on a variety of knowledges. It progresses as one grows older, the training becomes harder and more serious. Sine in my lifetime things were more peaceful between the clans, a heavier emphasis was placed on good training. Without having wars to fight all the time, training was not so rushed. All told I entered service as a minor retainer in my 20th year. Since I was a good size early on, TeiHei of course had always come over when I was very small and encouraged me to start reading and reciting early on. So by my sixth year I was already training, though not quite for the many hours a day the others who were older were. So all told 14 years of "training" then of course is the formal specialized training one gets as a retainer specific to your duty."

Do they? But better than not having them. She says with a smile. They protect your eyes which is the important part.
She leans back and floats serenely in the water with her eyes closed as she listens to Takeda talk about his training.
I see. Sounds like our Jedi training in some ways. Most of them start as younglings. In some ways it is easier to learn when you are young. You don't have any preconceived ideas and are open to trying new things. It sounds like you had a well rounded education. What was your favorite thing to do in regards to your training? I mean what were your interests? She opens one eye to look at him to see his expression.

He leans back and puts his arms on the side of the pool and just "hangs" he leans his head back and recollects. "Well I did enjoy the swimming, and I looked forward to the times spent in the storehouse or armory caring for the equipment. I did enjoy the the combat oriented training, but I did not get into it as many of the others had. Personally if it comes down to combat I want it over with as quickly as possible, though the sparring was always fun... Many of the others just became highly competitive in it, it never caught on like that with me."

You like the water? Or is the exercise itself? What did you like about caring for the equipment? She is still floating on her back.
So it was the movements and the use of the weapons rather than the fighting itself? She guesses. I hope you don't mind me asking so many questions. I'm just trying to get to know you.
Is there anything you would like to ask me in return? Her eyes are still closed and she floats there as if suspended in the water not moving from the spot she is at in the water.

"You say that the Jedi generally start there training very young, is it too late to learn then, if I have the aptitudes, and of course how does one begin?"

Generally yes. Of course not. I was in my twenties when I started my training and some have been much older than that. The aptitude for the Force is more important than the age you start. Being older can have some advantages you can have a great depth of understanding than that of a younger person.
I say you have already started by asking questions. As with most things the beginning is the acquiring of knowledge. From knowledge can come understanding.
She drifts over to the side of pool.

"Are there regular classes her at the academy I should be looking into? I have no idea how this works, and where to start." He leans back pondering this some more. "I have heard the term padawan, what exactly is that?."

Yes, there are classes here all the time but they are usually for the younglings. Older students usually learn one on one with a Master. They are called padawans. One Master, one padawan. A Master usually chooses his or her padawan. Padawan is just the name for a more advanced or older student.

He tilts his head back forward, and wipes his face off. "I should be working on my ship, but there are so many nice things here. I suppose almost having my ticket canceled, is natures way of telling me to slow down for a bit." He looks over towards the window, but does not see what he was looking for. "I do not quite think I am up to trying to lift those components myself, since they apparently still have the hoists tied up. So in the downtime, I was considering about going out of the facility. As I pass by the windows of this place or see outside the hangar, there looks to be a good size ruin not far from here, I think I might go check that out, well if it is permitted."
