Luke wakes up after a good night's rest. He gets up and makes his way to the terminal in the living room. He begins to search for news on Carratos. While there are quiet a few listings, none of them pertain to an insurrection in a town. "I wonder if the government has a black-out on the media. What could they be doing there?" thinks Luke.
He heads to the kitchen and makes some breakfast. After eating, he hits the sanisteam and dresses in his black Jedi outfit with robe. He leaves a note for Mara,
"Nothing on holonet about incident. Have gone to run errands and see our guest in the infirmary. Catch up with me there later.
Love,
Luke"
He heads out into the Yavin IV morning.

Late in the day the media finally displays news of what has happened on Carratos.
"This is Dynasty Starscream and I'm reporting from District 9 of Chofin's Worker's sector. Earlier today, Capt. Loke Groundrunner of the 667th Stormtrooper group walked into the unofficial town hall with orders to arrest and execute several members of the districts residents."
"What is even more disturbing is that he claims he was there on orders by the Imperial Executor and Savior of Carratos, Lord Ire, himself."
"Here we see Capt. Groundrunner shouting order to the mass of people protesting this show of force." Dynasty Starcream says before switching over footage from a surveillance station.
--"By order of your master and lord, Supreme Commander and Dark Lord Ire, certain people are to be placed under arrest and punished. We do not need to explain ourselves to you. Any attempts to enter will result in your deaths. Head back to your homes now."--
"Capt. Groundrunner then ordered an unknown civilian woman shot and killed for protesting the action."
"Luckily for the people, this woman was the only casualty. A brave Imperial Knight, who we have been unable to identify, stepped forward and stopped the ill deeds of these troopers and their commander."
"We have been unable to reach the Imperial Palace for comment, and all news of this has seemingly been blocked from galactic viewing, but we will keep following this story as it develops. This is Dynasty Starscream... back to Ford Solo in the studio.

Luke enters the apartment. He is in a hurry, but not rushed. He packs a small travel bag, and comms Artoo. "Artoo, warm the engines and complete pre-flight on the X-Wing. I'll be there in a few minutes."
Luke finishes packing and leaves Mara a note:
Red,
Meet me on Carratos. Bring 8-10 Jedi with you. Have them pilot their own ships. I think Jade Albright could be one, Tookie another. Gather what masters you can from the Temple. We are going to investigate what is going on with Lord Ire. Comm me when you get there. Ross Morgovi will be traveling with you. Be careful.

Luke encodes the message, and leaves it for Mara. He then grabs his travel bag and heads for his X-Wing.

Mara and Ben return to the apartment later than expected. She had taken Ben to the Yavin IV jungle, and was exhausted. However, Ben seemed to have a surplus of energy. He runs off to his bedroom, while Mara sits on the couch to read the note Luke left for her.
She sends off quick messages to Jade Albright, Tookie, and Johnathan Kenobi about the impending trip to Carratos.
"I sure hope this Morgavi person can copilot," she says as Ben runs back into the room, flying a toy X-wing through the air.
"I can be your copilot, Mama," he offers hopefully.
Mara smiles at him. "Maybe in a few years, Ben. When you can reach the controls from the chair. Now it's way past your bedtime."
Mara puts him to bed, then packs her travel bag and makes a few preparations for the trip before going to bed herself.

Luke enters the apartment, exhausted. It was a long day on Carratos, and even longer day when he made it back here, and Paymon had a fleet in orbit. Luckily a crisis was adverted.
Luke checked on Ben, sound asleep.
He goes into his bedroom, and changes into his night clothes. Mara is already asleep, so he slips into bed quietly and lies down. He is soon asleep.

Luke wakes up early, hits the refresher and sanisteam, and gets dressed in his black Jedi outfit with robe. He grabs a breakfast bar, and leaves Mara a note.

Luke makes his way towards their apartment. Lost in thought he is there before he knows it. He punches in the code and enters.
It is later than he thought. Ben is already in bed. Mara is waiting in the living room.
"Hey Red. It's been a quiet day for a change," says Luke.
"That's good. It was a quiet fun day here at home also," replies Mara.
"I'm going to grab a bite to eat. Do you want anything?" asks Luke.
"No, I already ate," says Mara.
Luke heads into the kitchen, and fixes a sandwich and a glass of milk. He comes back into the living room and sits down next to Mara. "I have a feeling tomorrow may be a little different. I sense something is coming towards the Jedi, but I'm not sure what it is."
"Whatever it is, we'll be ready for it." encourages Mara.
They sit in silence, watching holovid, while Luke finishes his supper.

After awhile, Luke looks at the chrono, and sees how late it's getting. "About time for bed," he says.
"Yes it is," replies Mara. "Is that a hint for 'I want to go to bed now.' Farmboy?" She laughs.
Luke chuckles, "I never could get anything by on you."
"Let's go to bed," replies Mara.
The two of them head down the hall, change into their night clothes, and climb into bed.
"Good-night Red," says Luke, then they kiss.
"Good-night yourself Farmboy," replies Mara.
Their heads hit the pillows, and soon both are fast asleep.

Luke is awakened by his comm. It is a message from Paymon requesting a meeting on Hapes to discuss a possible alliance. Luke gets up, gets dressed, and heads for his X-Wing.

Abruptly, Mara woke with a gasp, drenched in a cold sweat. She'd been plagued by nightmares for a good part of her life, but in recent years they seemed to have ebbed. Mara sighed and rubbed her eyes wearily as she tried to recall the dream; frustratingly, she could not. A light mental probe confirmed that Ben was still sleeping soundly.
Mara showered and dressed, then decided that perhaps a hot caf from the Tap Cafe would calm her.

Luke and Mara returned home late after a full day of activities. Ben had fallen asleep in Luke's arms on the walk home, and Luke put him to bed while Mara got ready for sleep. She was already dozing off when Luke came in and changed into his sleep clothes.
"Mara?"
"Hmm?" she answered sleepily.
"If you have any nightmares tonight, I want to know. Don't dismiss them as nothing."
"Copy, Rogue Leader," she replied jokingly. More seriously, "I will tell you everything, Luke."
"Good." With a wave of his hand he shut off all the lights, then leaned over and kissed Mara good-night on her cheek. "Love you."
"Love you too, farmboy."
Not even ten ticks of the chrono passed before both were sound asleep.

Luke awoke with a start, he had a dream about Lord Ire and the possible corruption. He slipped out of bed and went into the living room. He sat down cross-legged on the floor and began to meditate, opening himself up to the Force.
After a time, images began to be revealed to him. Luke realized after a while that the dark side would have an effect physically on the user, it would have an even greater effect on the mind, as the user would stop trusting people and become quick to anger. Paranoia and anger could lead someone to do something they normally would not do. Continued immersion in the dark side could even result in insanity, as in the case of Dark Jedi Boc Aseca, Alema Rar, and Joruus C'baoth. Luke began to see the images fade, and the meditation was over.
Perhaps this is what is causing the turmoil with Lord Ire. Prolonged contact with the Dark Side may be affecting him mentally. He needed to contact Zairon.

Zairon,
I have had a vision in the Force. I need to know if Lord Ire is experiencing Paranoia and bouts of uncontrolled anger? It's possible that prolonged exposure to the Dark Side is having a detrimental effect on his mental abilities.

Having sent the message to Zairon, Luke felt some measure of relief. But he still had a nagging feeling in the back of his mind that he was missing something. It centered on Ross. Something was bugging him about his wife and son. Perhaps Karrde and Ghent would be able to shed some light on the subject. He was anxious to hear what information they were able to gather.
Luke headed back to bed to try and get some more rest.

Luke woke up early, and got out of bed. Some calisthenics to get the blood flowing, then hit the sanisteam to clean up. He dressed in his usual black Jedi outfit.
He headed for the kitchen, where he grabbed a ration bar and a dagobah dew for breakfast. Luke then went into the living room and watched the holo-vid to catch the latest news.
After catching the headlines, Luke heads for his office.
