Name: Kaalyanii (Formerly of domain Hul).
Age: 33 (Yuuzhan Vong Years.)
Gender: Female
Affiliation: Extolled one, Loyalist Yuuzhan Vong
Weapons/ skills: Proficient in the use of Amphistaff, coufee, all manner of yuuzhan vong projectiles, she bears no weapon-based implants due to former shamed status.
Personality: Having been born into the warrior caste prior to the Yuuzhan Vong invasion, Kaalyanii was raised with the usual Yuuzhan Vong beliefs that venerated a life lived in pain as the only constant. Death and agony were the mainstay of that which was a bloodthirsty pantheon and as such she partook in many a blood sacrifice, mutilating and scarring her body in a number of ways, in reverence to her gods. Such reverence still shows it's bearing on her to this day, and her belief in the gods remains unchanged, however, her view of them has changed considerably, along with how she would address many a situation. Conscientious as she is, she understands that other beings in the galaxy they now inhabit, have many a reservation when it comes to her species and what they did, her time lived as a shamed one brought her much misfortune and sadness as it has a chance to integrate and change how people view the Yuuzhan Vong as a whole. Patience is something she has in abundance, particularly when it comes to dealing with the hostile nature of other species towards her - something she acquired during her time among the shamed ones.
In regards to her shaming, she believes that it was the will of the gods via extension of her actions, that brought her such misfortune. However, she has discussed the possibility that this was merely a round about way to her finding out about the Jeedai Heresy, so that she would be able to become a part of such a movement, which ultimately brought her, and thousands of shamed like her, redemption. To this end, she is not regretful for her time among the shamed, but will request that people refer to them not as shamed, but as 'extolled'.
Along with her former shamed status, comes the subject of S'uun Esh - a warrior who was also her commander at the time of Kaalyanii's fall from grace. It is believed at prior to this time the pair were involved with one another, but the volatile nature that came of Kaalyanii's shaming, brought the affair to a swift end, with S'uun vowing to kill Kaalyanii if she ever had to lay eyes on her again. This subject along with all it involved has been known to be the one thing to break the extolled one's resolve, and therefore should be approached with caution.
History: Born into Domain Hul, a lesser prominent warrior domain, Kaalyanii was trained from an early age in the skills of the warrior caste. She, like all warriors born to this caste, was placed into her domain's creche for the first 12 Yuuzhan Vong years of her life, during which she trained rigorously towards eventual trial - a coming of age ceremony of sorts - and escalation to the lowest rank within the caste. Passing her trials, she was allowed to do this, and soon rose to the rank of Subaltern when she reached her 26th year. It was about this time that she was stationed aboard the war vessel 'Yammka's Punishment' where she fell under the sway of Commander S'uun Esh. The pair spent much time together on and off duty, eventually becoming lovers for a short period. S'uun Esh thought very highly of Kaalyanii and her analytical mind, believing her to be of profound tactical use for their people.
Come the invasion of the known galaxy, S'uun Esh was charged with the taking of the world Obroa Skai, taking one of Kaalyanii's tactical plans under advisement, the forces planned to subjugate the world in a series of small attacks at key points across the globe. The plan failed abysmally when NR forces arrived in far greater numbers than had been expected, forcing the Yuuzhan Vong forces to beat a hasty retreat, temporarily, until reinforcements could arrive. The loss to the invasion force was significant, so much so that it was brought to the attention of a prolific Supreme Commander, who ordered that S'uun Esh be stripped of her title and demoted for taking ill advice, and that Kaalyanii, rather than face death, should live out the rest of her days in penance and servitude as a shamed one.
Shamed status, as expected, was not easy for Kaalyanii to accept, she was stripped of all privileges, rights and duties, banished to the lowliest places aboard the worldships, to tend to the unseemly tasks beneath the true caste.
As the invasion progressed and many more worlds fell to the Yuuzhan Vong, Kaalyanii had spoken with many of the captured infidel slaves that shared their worker barracks, and had become somewhat interested in the prospect of actually being able to get to one of the worlds mentioned by these slaves, perhaps begin a new life with several other members of the shamed ones, to whom she had befriended. After much planning, it was decided that the small group of shamed ones, would secrete themselves aboard yorik-trema that were bound for the infidel world of Nar Shaddaa, mobilize once the transports made it to ground and regroup from there.
The transports made it to ground, but not without a fight. Several mercenaries took on the Yorik-trema as they made their way planet side, taking out all but the one Kaalyanii was secreted aboard. Unknown to her, all her cohorts had died before ever reaching the world, and things were about to take a turn for the worse for her also. Having contacts on world, those infidels who had attacked the transports in orbit, sent word to their counterparts on world who mobilized a mish mash of a strike force with the intent to capture as many of the remaining Yuuzhan Vong as they could. All the warriors aboard, as was taught, fought to the death and the mercenaries were about to go home empty handed, when upon searching the downed Yuuzhan Vong vessel, they found Kaalyanii's hiding place. A struggle ensued which ultimately lead to her capture.
Unknown to the shamed one, their intention had been to capture Yuuzhan Vong alive, as part of a lucrative scheme in regards to the research on alpha red. As a result of needing highly rare live subjects for tests, those developing the bio weapon paid large amounts of credits to anyone willing to try and capture a Yuuzhan Vong agent intact and living.
But instead of transporting her to the designated collection point immediately, the leader of this band of mercenaries, Kyraka Ven, owner of a shady cantina on world, decided to up the ante, by demanding twice as much for the delivery of Kaalyanii, since upon capture, Kaalaynii had managed to successfully kill one of the gang and seriously injure another, who just happened to be Kyraka's brother. This displeased the officials secretly working on the Alpha red project, but begrudgingly they agreed and a pick up date was arranged.
Held up in a dindgey makeshift prison cell at the back of the cantina's store room, the heavily restrained shamed one was left to languish in her despair unable to understand anything her captors said, due to the fact she did not carry a tizowyrm. It was about the same time that a human named Drevin Seoul, an ex dark Jedi, settled down in the cantina for a brief respite between smuggling missions. It is unknown how, but he became embroiled in an argument with another sabaac gambler, over a tidy sum of winnings. A fight ensued, drawing in most of the patrons and the mercenary gang themselves. Alone for the first time since her capture, Kaalyanii seized the opportunity to make a bid for freedom, accidentally shorting the connection on the stun cuff restraints about her wrists, when she encountered an R4 unit, which attempted to raise the alarm.
The alarm did partially alert the cantina's owner, who immediately burst into the store room to find nothing more than a mangled mish mash of dismantled droid parts - but no Yuuzhan Vong. Kaalyanii had secreted herself on an overhead power conduit, jumping down when the infidel had passed beneath her, and breaking for the open door.
The fight still going on in the cantina's public saloon, she was able to pass relatively swiftly with minimal attention drawn to her...aside from that of Drevin, and a few choice others. Drevin, having lost his entire family to the Yuuzhan Vong, tore after the fleeing female with several angry miscreants on his tail. He managed to trap Kaalyanii in a dead end alley, where he confronted her aggressively, but to his confusion, instead of turning on him with extreme malice, she backed away until she could go no further. It was at this point Drevin realized, she had not understood any of what he had been yelling at her, and that she did not look like any of the Yuuzhan Vong he had ever encountered.
The mercenaries still on their tail, they formed an unlikely alliance, and were able to escape them and the world with their lives. During their time together, Kaalyanii and Drevin communicated on the most basic of levels, as she took great offense in allowing the Ex dark Jedi's droid in translating anything she had to say. Despite this, they formed a bond that the pair of them found unsettling and confusing on every level, even going as far as to cause both of them to question if they really had woven the impossible between them, but it was this bond that prevented Kaalyanii from taking her original course of action; which had been to turn the Jeedai over to the Yuuzhan Vong, and secure her redemption. Instead the pair planned to travel to the now taken world of Yuuzhan'tar, where they would make contact with the shamed ones who venerated the Jeedai heresy.
Disaster struck when they were on a NR world on a routine stop over for supplies. Unbeknown to them, the mercenaries from Nar Shaddaa had hired a mandalorian bounty hunter by the name of Jate, who had been tracking their progress ever since day one. Upon catching up with the pair, Drevin told Kaalyanii to make for his ship, while he was supposed to hold the bounty hunter off. Kaalyanii did so reluctantly and the bounty hunter was dispatched...but Drevin never returned.
A full ket later, the world was taken by the Yuuzhan Vong, and Kaalyanii found her means 'home' to Yuuzhan'tar, where she was taken in by the acolytes of the Jeedai heresy, Yu'shaa's group of heretics. She was among those who fought along side the NR in the recapture of Coruscant, and eventually survived to make the transition to Zonama Sekot. Here she has remained ever since, a loyalist to the new way, she believes that the Yuuzhan Vong can finally begin to make peace with this new galaxy, but there are forces now at work to undo that theory, threatening all she has struggled to uphold.
